Too reply again, I have to say, this info was SO interestin when I found it out. I have hypothyroidism and TMJ and have since I was a teen. 5th Chakra is not only self expression, but is also the source of tejas. Tejas is fire and it gives us the fire to speak. And maybe that's why I have so many vata problems...because my tiny fire was put out a long time ago due to not expressing my emotions. Interesting.

Oh good! I'm glad it made good sense. That book is on my list big time. I drool over anything quantum and anything healing, so if you get it before me, do tell me how it is! Mr. Chopra is all about Ayurveda - the Chopra Center in Southern CA is all Ayurvedic healing. :)

That makes perfect sense - thank you for the explanation! I'll check out the book - I've heard quite a few things from Deepak Chopra in the past too. I guess I didn't realize he was talking about Ayurveda!

A cool book you might find interesting is, "Quantum Healing" by Deepak Chopra. It's about how you can change your physical make up by using your mind. I haven't read it yet, but I heard that it's fantastic. Hope this helps!!

Good question. And yes, from an Ayurvedic perspective psychological problems DO cause physical imbalances in the body. Absolutely. Not all, not always, and no two cases are the same. But in Ayurveda, the psychology (mind) and biology (body) definitely go hand in hand. Mind comes first and if it is "off" in anyway, the body will become "off" also. I can't speak to the pituitary gland problem because that would be bringing in western medicine and I am not a doctor (it's important I say that). However, according to Ayurveda emotions can cause the imbalance of any gland, any organ, any tissue, and any system in the body. Indeed.

That's not the only cause though, right? I guess I'm unclear about the biological causes and the psychological claim. I was told that mine is the result of a pituitary gland problem. Can you explain a bit more?
